Paul and Mom visit!

Paul came home to the States for 2 weeks and we were anxious for his visit! It was his first time in Louisville and of course the weather was the same as Detroit: cold and rainy :-(   I didn't have any plans but to visit and we went to the mall, Old Time Pottery, and Bass ProShop. I also started walking 5 days a week so I was eager too keep up on that so Paul went along one day with me. Jake loooooves Uncle Paul and they put together legos and created a series of stories with their built characters. I of course made a pot of soup the night they arrived and it was fabulous. Was nice seeing both of them and Paul will be returning, along with my Sister to the States for Christmas in Detroit.

On our mall day, we stopped by the hat section and since Derby season is upon us, we had to try on the fancy hats. (Seems to be a tradition when guest come into town)

St Patty's Adult Celebration

I haven't been out for March 17th celebrations in 6 years! So the hoodies organized a gathering in the Highlands (high rent district). We went to a place called Flannigans and had some Guinness and good conversation. Now this is also known as amateur night in terms of drinking and driving so I took off at 8:30 Lol. Had fun though and this picture forced me to start counting calories. Oy!

Jenna's 5th birthday party at Chuck E Cheese

Jake's classmate, Jenna, invited the whole class to Chuck E Cheese and Make seriously asked every day for 2 weeks,"How many more days until her party?" So clearly, he was excited when the day finally arrived! Kids are just so cute when they're 5 at a place like that. Yoiu can just see their little cloud thought bubbles: what's she gonna get? When do we eat cake? We get pizza? Where's chuck e?Why is my mom here? Haha

Bardstown St Patricks Day Parade

I stumbled across a great website that has daily activities for families around Louisville. Such things include where kids eat free, story time at select libraries, plus various other things. For whatever reason, the St Pat's Parade is a weekend before the actual holiday. Jake and I headed to the Highlands near Cherokee Park and had to walk about a mile to find the perfect spot for viewing the parade. We picked the best spot: right at the beginning! (A very good place to start Lol)  The theme was '40 shades of green' to benefit the local animal shelter so I probably wore 5 different shades. It sure was a fun (long) 2 hour parade and we definitely left with more candy and beads than we ever thought we could handle....

Kevins new baby

After one year of driving here there and everywhere with one car, Kev found 'the' car and I'm not allowed to take pictures until he has it perfect. So in 2 years I guess I can show it to you :-). We dubbed her 'Marilyn the Mustang' because 30 years ago, she was hot, much like this car :-)  clever huh? Burnt Orange '84 Mustang Notchback. The best part is, she's paid for :-) 

Dr Seuss Family Pajama Party

We frequent the library once a week and apparently it been paying off. Jake is currently obsessed with Dr Seuss and we noticed a poster advertising an event at the main library downtown after hours. The kids(and parents) were encouraged to come in their bedtime attire for a myriad of activities. 

We arrived promptly at 6 in the bitter cold, snowy evening and marched up the giant stairs to the entryway. Old libraries are so beautiful: marble everywhere, glorious staircases, and hidden entrances. We were given a handout of what events were in each floor. 

We went through a little corridor that had probably 20 different titles of Dr Seuss' books we could check out. I hadn't heard of a few so we grabbed 5 and were off to the next thing. 

The 2nd floor had crafts. The first one was a 'Horton Hears a Who' that involved glueing, cutting, etc.

Thing 1 and Thing 2 were at the next table and after our craft was finished Jake wanted a pic with them :-) 

Next, we headed down toward the lower level and oh my goodness were there a ton of people down there! The dance party started in 15 minutes and we waited in line for the rainbow goldfish crackers and captain crunch snack they were handing out but there was so much chaos and people just standing there not moving. Jake didn't get the snack but we made it to the dance party in time after doing an obstacle course (think the movie 'Entrapment') while balancing a plate of goldfish without dropping one. 

The dance party was fun for the little, little kids but Jake was more concerned about the kids not following directions haha. 

Another event was a puppet show about eating healthy. I need to remember to find another puppet show because Jake got a huge kick out of it. Just wish we had a better view. 

Finally (!), was story-time on the same stage. This guy was excellent at keeping the room quiet and attentive and best of all, a GREAT storyteller :-)  He also looked like Stephen King haha. We had a great time and Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss (March 2)!
